Our boarders enjoy an action-packed weekend
"In life the simple things are often the best!"
Lovely grounds, good food, good friends and freedom to play anywhere - what more could a child ask for. Boarding at Hazlegrove offers all these things all the time. At weekends, our boarders really do take ownership of the school and use all that it offers to the fullest. Saturday afternoon was a great example of this. The children had a whale of a time making up their own games and taking leisurely bike rides around the school.
As we woke up early on Sunday morning excitement was in the air as a day full of opportunity and anticipation lay ahead. After feeding the guinea pigs and the chickens a delicious breakfast awaited us, and it did not disappoint!
Tummies full and very contented we embarked on a day of exploration. We set off to AirHop - a trampoline park on the outskirts of Bristol - for the first time in Hazlegrove history. It certainly did live up to its reputation of being an adrenaline-fuelled, fun-filled bouncing paradise. Our adventurous children took full advantage of all the activities on offer, namely Basketball Slam Dunk, Foam Pit, Dodgeball, Battlebeam, Wipeout and the Main Court. After an hour bouncing about trying everything the children were exhausted. Who would have known that bouncing around, racing friends and competing against each other could be so satisfying? It was so rewarding to see the children in their element having so much fun.
On our return we finished off the day with an excellent practical chapel delivered by Mr Farquhar. He reminded us how important it is to say sorry and, at times, how difficult it can be to do it.
Once again it was a real pleasure and a privilege to spend the weekend with a special group of children. We as adults can learn so much from children, especially how they wear their hearts on their sleeves and how they really do enjoy life and live it to its fullest.
