The blustery and somewhat grey weather definitely didn’t dampen the boarders spirits this weekend!

Alongside the usual Saturday afternoon fixtures, the children were a hive of activity, from a space themed art competition run by Skye and Hannah to football, cycling, swimming, and general relaxing around and about. In the evening, the juniors relaxed with a film whilst the seniors ventured out to nearby Castle Cary to soak up the atmosphere of the annual Carnival. A firework signalled the start of the procession which consisted of a range of bands, marching groups, fancy-dress walkers, dancers and a whole host of vibrant themed floats. The children enjoyed the chance to sample some local ‘sweet delicacies’ and enjoyed a good game of ‘spot the teacher’ in the procession too - a grand evening was had by all!
A full cooked breakfast with continental accompaniments started Sunday morning, before Mr Brown led a thought provoking chapel, encouraging everyone to look out for each other and love thy neighbour as thyself. It was then into the minibuses and off to the eagerly anticipated Splashdown! A few hours of sliding slipping, zooming, rocketing and hurtling down slides most aptly named things like ‘Dragon’s Lair’, ‘Mississippi Drifter’, ‘The Screamer’, ‘Baron’s Revenge’, and ‘Velocity’, was enough to give even the braver children an extended adrenalin rush, and plenty of opportunities to feel their stomachs flip and hearts race! Back at school, the usual Sunday evening routines ensued with letter writing and a scrumptious roast before relaxing and winding down to bed.
Thank you Mr O’Neill for organising a wonderful weekend and all the staff who supported the boarders.
Miss Rudd.
