Boarders' rock climbing lecture from Ben Heason
Last night the boarders were treated to yet another outstanding speaker. This time the theme was aptly on rock climbing.
In the wake of last week’s awe inspiring climb of El Capitan in Yosemite, we welcomed Ben Heason, the first Briton to have ever free climbed the face of the Angel Falls in Venezuela. Arguably, had this climb occurred today, we would be seeing the same global reaction to El Capitan. More dangerous and life threatening, Ben Heason with six other team mates scaled this mammoth challenge over 21 days.
Ben inspired us with his childhood tales and antics and delivered a strong message of perseverance and determination. The children were captivated and appreciated his incredible photographs and honesty. Ben came across as a modest man who is obviously one of Britain’s shining lights in the rock climbing world. An extraordinary achievement was reflected by some excellent questions from the audience.
