A fabulous concert to start the term...
Friday's concert was always going to be a special one as for many of the Year 8 performers, it was the last opportunity for them to perform their pieces in concert before they go off to a variety of senior schools for their music scholarship assessments. We were in for a treat!
As there were fourteen children to perform there was only an opportunity for them to play one of their instruments but voice, piano, clarinet, trumpet, cello, guitar, trombone and violin all featured. We enjoyed wonderful performances all round, listening to delights such as Chopin's Sonata for Cello and Piano (2nd movement), Franck's Panis Angelicus, Mozart's Piano Sonata in A (Last Movement, 'Alla Turca'), Vizutti's The Enchanted Trumpet and on the violin Corelli's Corrente.
Having listened to these children performing as they have made their way up the school, it is moving to see quite how much these children have achieved in reaching such levels of competance in their playing and of their confidence in performance. Well done everyone and good luck to all whether sitting a music scholarship or whether offering music as part of an all-round scholarship.
