A brilliant Boarders' Burns Night Supper
Last night was our annual Burns' Night celebration which saw us enjoy a meal together in memory of the great famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns.
Although Mr Robertson’s “heart’s in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer”…he did don his Scottish attire and treat us to a night of pure and unadulterated Scottish tradition in our Somerset dining hall!
We started the evening off with a traditional Scottish prayer and then the children watched in delight as Simon paraded the haggis. After a Robert Burns recital (thankfully translated for us) by Mr Robertson, we enjoyed a delicious meal accompanied by Scotland’s unofficial drink of the nation, Irn Bru.
A special thank you to the children (the youngest from each table) who ceremonially, stabbed the haggis for their tables; to Simon for his walk through the dining hall; to the kitchen staff who prepared such a lovely and authentic meal, and of course, our resident Scotsman – we are all very grateful to Mr Robertson for entertaining and informing us so royally.
