Puzzles and codes were unlocked at the Sherborne Cracking the Code Day
On Thursday 4 October, a group of Year 7 pupils represented Hazlegrove at the Sherborne Cracking the Code Day.
Both Sherborne Girls and Sherborne School host this incredibly busy programme of academic activities that are designed to really stretch and stimulate the students, introducing them to new concepts and new skills in a ‘semi-competitive’ atmosphere.
In mixed school groups they conducted an experiment to isolate some DNA strands from a kiwi fruit, they solved two tricky maths puzzles based around geometry and number sequences, they learnt a little Swedish, Polish and Irish and finally they explored some of the secrets and codes hidden in the beautiful Sherborne Chapel.
All-in-all an excellent programme and all of our Hazlegrovian ambassadors worked incredibly hard throughout the day to make the very most of these challenges.
