A fantastic end to the boarding year, and a fitting last weekend for our Year 8s

Our last In-Weekend of the year passed in a busy blur of sunshine, fun and laughter.

After Saturday school and a delicious lunch, the Year 8 girls headed off on a shopping trip to Street for some retail therapy. The boys went in the opposite direction and were treated to the latest blockbuster movie, ‘Jurassic World 2’. Back at school, the ever-popular waterslide was up and running, as well as some summery arts and crafts in the art room. The woods resounded to the sound of games and den-building, while the chill-out tent provided some much-needed shelter from the blazing heat. Time on the adventure playground and an afternoon swim rounded off the afternoon, before we all enjoyed a delicious BBQ on the front lawn followed by lovely ice-creams.

Sunday morning broke slightly cooler and cloudy, and we enjoyed a wonderful fried-breakfast. We were treated to a fantastic chapel from Mrs Hughes, who told us all about how to be a good friend and led us in some rousing hymns. A packed morning programme included card-making, Just Dance-ing, go-karts, archery, a teddy bear’s picnic, mountain bike safari, biltong making and friendship bracelets. Lunch was another triumph, as we sat down to traditional British fare: roast beef and yorkshire puddings! In the afternoon we all had lots of fun on the blow-up inflatables, including the bucking-bronco (much harder than it looked!), table football, adventure playground and the rope-belt challenge. We even got the waterslide out again for good measure.

It was such a wonderful weekend for all involved. Everyone was in such good spirits and helped out if anything needed doing. A special thanks must go to Mr Schreiber and Mr Forbes for organising the whole weekend so well. It was a fantastic end to the boarding year, and a fitting last weekend for our Year 8s. We will miss you all dearly!
