A photographic orienteering challenge for the boarders at Stourhead on a stunning day

The Hazlegrove boarding community travelled to Bruton to join King’s Bruton and the townsfolk in the Remembrance Service and parade. It is always a very special occasion and it was certainly very well attended. Grace and Freddie laid a wreath on behalf of the boarding familes. The children were respectful and mindful of the occasion – and they made us proud.

After the service, we went back home and enjoyed a spot of free time in the pool, sports hall and art room before being relishing a scrumptious lamb roast and treacle sponge. We enjoyed rest in the library and then we drove off to Stourhead – the second most visited National Trust property in the UK (I can hear you guessing the first…it is The Giant’s Causeway).

At Stourhead, we were met with the most brilliant autumnal colours and sunshine. The children were in groups, armed with  cameras. They had to take photos of specific landmarks – a photography orienteering competition. The children were fantastic company and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Two hours flew by. We ended the walk with hot chocolate, whilst watching the sun set over the lake – and a tourist falling into the lake!

We came home to letter writing and a lovely warm meal. Donning our wellies, we met at the flag pole for the inaugural Wellie Wellie Dark Run. A play on the park run – in the dark, wearing wellies! The children dashed off into the dark and sprinted for the finishing line – but…they had to cross the line, holding the hand of either a person three years age difference or boy – girl. Lots of giggles and warm cheeks.
