Lots of fun in the Hazlegrove grounds for the boarders...

The sun was shining as we woke up ready for the usual, amazing Sunday fry up.  Then off to an inspirational chapel by Mr Farquhar on greatness and service for others-lots of food for thought for the coming week.  Next to the Fitzjames for letter writing and then it was time for the activities.

With Miss Hudson, those feeling artistic, experienced an art attack, working in groups with one member on the top floor of the main house as the director with a walkie-talkie.  Using their birds’ eye view, they decided where the rest of the team were to place pieces of material to make giant sculptures.  We had a rainbow, a spider a girl eating a burger and chips with a can of coke!  Great fun!

Those feeling more army-ish went to the woods with Mr Robertson and Mr Branch for a morning of extreme camo fun in the woods. Using camo jackets, netting and the all important camo paint, the children quickly blended into the undergrowth with surprising efficiency!! Several games took place; most involving the children getting the better of the adults.  Throughout the day we tried to identify who would become the ultimate camo king and queen. This went to Josh.B and Oliver.C. jointly and to Gabriella..

Miss Redwood and Mrs Robertson took a group of intrepid bakers to the kitchen for a bake-off challenge.  Chocolate chip shortbread was the brief but having raided their tuck boxes for extra ingredients the decoration took on dizzy heights.  Grated kitkat was one highly successful invention!  Winners were Bea, Maria and Jemma for taste and for design were Amelia B, Faye and Naomi.

After a superb lunch of beer can chicken we set off to the theatre for a rest.  Then it was the extreme obstacle course.  The mixed aged teams were timed as they rolled under camouflage netting, jumped over benches and ran through water.  The winners were the mighty green team.

Later there was more camo hide and seek, croquet, boule, tennis, cricket nets and a swim while some chose to relax in the chill out tent or to fly kites.  All in all a wonderful weekend with the children as fantastic company.

Many many thanks to Mr.Blunden and Mr. Hope-Hawkins who supplied much of the camouflage gear that really helped make it authentic.
