Year 6 Poetry Slam Finale

Prep About

This week, our Year 6 pupils showcased their incredible talent and creativity during the much-anticipated Poetry Slam, inspired by their studies of Around the World in 80 Days.

As part of their journey, they explored the vibrant culture of America, culminating in a special challenge from the President: to craft a piece of spoken word poetry that captivates and inspires.

Pupils embraced this opportunity, employing literary devices such as wordplay, alliteration, metaphors, and similes to express their thoughts and feelings. Each finalist, selected from the four classes, brought their unique perspective and passion to the stage, making the event a true celebration of artistic expression. Our finalists were Hannah M, Horatio L, Alec MF, Rudy S, Alana W, Tilly B, Orla H and Edward W.

The grand finale took place in the magnificent Fitzjames Building, where the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. Our esteemed judge, Mrs. Froggatt, listened intently as the eight finalists delivered their powerful performances, each piece reflecting their personal inspirations and insights.

We are excited to announce that the winner and runner-up will be revealed on Monday. They will each win a book token and will perform for the school in Celebration Assembly on Friday. This event not only highlighted pupils’ poetic talents but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation for the arts within our school. Stay tuned for the announcement, and congratulations to all participants for their hard work and creativity!
