Year 7 Have Been Debating With Reverend Beverly
We were delighted to invite Reverend Beverly, our Foundation Chaplain, to judge God in our trial last week.
God was accused of negligence: of knowing about human suffering and evil and yet doing nothing about it.
The debate was expertly chaired by Mr Farquhar with contributions made by a wide range of people. In his summary, Reverend Beverly was very impressed, and commended both the prosecution and the defence for the strength and depth of their arguments. In the end, God was acquitted on the balance of the evidence presented.
As their teacher, I was very impressed by both the quality of the arguments and by the way that the group listened to each other and then responded to the specific arguments made. Well done, everyone!
