Hazlegrove Joint King's Concert and Boarders Concert
It was with great pride that we welcomed older pupils and music staff from King’s Bruton on Thursday evening for our biannual Joint Concert
Performing to a packed audience of children and parents from across the Foundation, our Hazlegrove musicians proved just what can be achieved in a few short weeks, playing and singing with great confidence and poise.
Our Hazlegrove ensembles performed their pieces beautifully, with music both new and old a feature of the evening’s exciting programme. Highlights included our hugely popular Hazlegrove Voices and their rendition of Pure Imagination, as well as superbly polished playing from some of our junior brass players.
All Hazlegrove children enjoyed the wonderful opportunity of listening to more established musicians as ensembles from King’s Bruton took to the stage, before several were able to join their senior counterparts in joint ventures from the Military Band to the Joint Orchestra. The concert’s finale of Bill Withers classic, Lovely Day, sung by a massed joint choir, was something that all will remember for years to come.
Not to be outdone, our boarders put on a superb Friday lunchtime concert before Half Term commenced, showing their parents just how much work has gone into music lessons and practice sessions in the first seven weeks of the school year. There is clearly much to look forward to in the coming months. We are so proud of them all!
