Celebration of music at Hazlegrove and musical dates for the diary
We are incredibly excited about the start of the new academic year in Music.
Our choirs and ensembles are in full flow this week, with many Hazlegrove musicians already working hard towards the first of our Friday concerts in Week 4. There is much to celebrate, with the revival of The Hazlegrove String Quartet and a growing cohort of budding DJs now receiving 1-to-1 DJ lessons with Mr Powell. Our Hazlegrove Orchestra is the biggest yet, and we have an exciting number of keen beans, desperate to aim for the dizzying heights of last year’s legendary Year 8 Band.
Our 8 choirs are throwing themselves into rehearsals, and those in the Upper School are looking forward to an outing with the Hazlegrove/King’s Bruton choir in our upcoming Joint Concert. This promises to be another inspiring occasion, so do please reserve 7pm on Thursday 12 October, here at Hazlegrove, in your diary.
It appears that not all of us are basking in this beautiful, late summer weather, with one teacher already asking if I was starting work on our big end-of-term events! If you, too, are hankering after Christmas jumpers and tinsel, it would be worth making a note of our Annual Carols with the Orchestra evening at the end of term on Tuesday 12 December 2023. Parents and Hazlegrove musicians (both current and past) are warmly invited to join our scratch orchestra rehearsal, followed by carol singing and mince pies in the Theatre – an event that sets us all up beautifully for our magical Carol Service at Wells Cathedral.
We look forward to seeing you at our events throughout the term. You are extremely welcome to attend whether your child is performing or not. We love an audience at Hazlegrove, and our children are so looking forward to showing you just what they can do. Great stories really do begin here!
