Eco Schools initiative assembly presented by King's Bruton pupils
On Tuesday, the morning assembly was used to introduce the Eco Schools initiative to the children in Years 3 to 8.
This initiative provides a structure for schools to analyse their environment and practices and identify areas where they could develop a more eco-friendly and sustainable approach.
We were lucky to have two pupils from King’s Bruton to talk to our pupils about the projects they have done over the last year. They spoke brilliantly and our pupils were interested to learn about the impact their three projects have had at King's (re-wilding areas of the school, introducing recycling bins to every classroom and boarding house, reducing food waste).
The Hazlegrove children asked some insightful questions and showed a genuine interest in what we can do to look after our world. Our next step will be to set up an Eco Committee made up of volunteers from Nursery to Year 8 whose first job will be to identify areas where we can improve our practice and make Hazlegrove a more sustainable and eco-conscious community.
