Year 4 Step Back In Time For Victorian Day
Bonnets and caps, waistcoats and pinafores: Year 4 were ready for Victorian day!
They experienced life in a Victorian schoolroom, learning in a way which was very different to ours. Writing with scratchy pens, learning to recite and use an abacus, sitting in rows with the threat of a dunce’s cap in the corner, they realised how lucky they are to be 21st century children at Hazlegrove. In the afternoon, our classrooms became a living museum where the children were encouraged to open, squeeze, rattle and feel an enormous number of very strange looking Victorian artefacts. They became detectives, looking for clues to discover the use of some extraordinary looking tools and implements, with the favourite being a rather vicious ratcatcher!
