Boarders Had A Fun Day Out At The Science Museum
What a weekend!
We were treated to one of the South West’s best days with winter sun, frost and a trip to Bristol science museum. We started the day with the essential full English breakfast before setting off on the day’s adventure.
The science museum did not disappoint, and it was so lovely to see the awe and wonder in the eyes of the children. What made it even better was that from the youngest to the oldest child, everyone found their own favourite part. At the ‘We the Curious’ exhibition we were first introduced to an exploration of robotics and aerodynamics. The exhibitions are beautifully interactive and a feast for the senses. Whether it was the human-run water wheel showing how sand is created, the topographic sand pit, ageing camera or green screen, there was something for everyone.
After lunch in the sunlit courtyard surrounded by the fountains, we explored the museum further enjoying the exhibition on animation. The children loved having a go at making their own animation all inspired by Wallace and Gromit. The amazing interactivity was again on show with giant bubble making, optical illusions, giant puzzles and bridge building. It was a delight to see how all of the children explored the space and took genuine interest in the exhibitions. I loved that when I asked for the children’s favourite part of the museum on the way home everyone had a different answer.
After a busy day out, we settled to some letter writing and hot chocolate with our film in the theatre. Finally, we had an amazing roast to top off the day. I hope as the children go to bed this evening, happily tired from the day’s activities, they will be thinking about something they saw today and maybe be just a little more curious about the world around them.
