Year 5 Learn All About World War One

Year 5 have been busy over the last few weeks learning all about World War One in both their History and English lessons.

They have Investigated the main causes of the war as well as discussing whether Great Britain was right to join, and whether there was a choice. Persuasive propaganda posters were made, along with a rousing speech, to the men of Somerset, persuading them to enlist. More recently, pupils have created stunning war poetry, using ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae as their inspiration. They have used a range of sources to investigate what life was like in the trenches. Now the excitement is rising for our trip to Bovington Tank Museum on Monday 22^nd November!
