Prep Boarding

Another fun packed weekend for the boarders at Hazlegrove.

With a large contingent in this weekend there was lots of fun to be had. The day started with some delicious croissants followed by an enlightening chapel by Mr Jenkins. The wonderful facilities here at Hazlegrove allowed us to have an action-packed morning with nerf wars, baking, swimming, art and even some revision for our Year 8s.

We were treated to one of Joe’s finest lamb roasts before we split our forces between the Senior and the Junior boarders. The Junior boarders were set a rigorous school wide orienteering challenge. Not only did the teams have to solve puzzles to find each waypoint they then had to complete challenges. Human pyramids, frisbee trick shots, dance offs and team superhero jump shots to name but a few.

The Juniors were then treated to round two of the nerf war and some more baking before some much-needed rest whilst watching a film in the theatre or the six nations rugby match in the common room.

Meanwhile, the Seniors charted a course over the Mendip Hills, arriving at an enormous disused quarry to put their Combat Archery skills to the test. After a brief safety talk, they took bow in hand and competed to see who could fire an arrow the furthest, and the most accurately.

They then formed teams, donned protective facemasks and spent the next hour taking part in mini battles, using the tyres and rocky terrain to hide from their foes. After all of the (foam tipped) arrows had been fired, Team Six emerged victorious and earned themselves an extra chocolate bar. Well done everyone!

After a day of fresh air and running around the countryside, all are ready for a good night’s sleep ready for another week of school ahead.
