Boarders Celebrate Burns Night with Haggis, Bagpipes and More
Stabbing the Haggis and listening to all things Scottish.
On a cold and misty night the boarders had a great time celebrating Burns Night. So much fun and laughter was had by all that they all forgot about the morbid conditions outside and sipping a bit of Iron Bru certainly warmed the cockles of their hearts. A big thanks needs to go to Mr and Mrs Cranfield for organising the whole evening!
We started the evening off by saying the Selkirk Grace expertly delivered by Mr Cranfield. Once we had all settled down, chef Louise had the enviable task of addressing the haggis to the sound of bagpipes and cheering in the background. No Burns Night would be complete without a bit of poetry and Mrs Cranfield did not disappoint. She read an extract from Robert Burns whilst the youngest member from each table stabbed their Haggis with great glee and gusto.
Once the festivities were over we all ate some Haggis and to my surprise the children on the whole loved it which was really refreshing to see. At the end of the meal Hector S and Mr Cranfield played their very own rendition of Auld Lange Syne to finish off the evening.
A great evening and many thanks also must go to our fabulous catering department for producing such a delicious Scottish delicacy for us all to enjoy.
