Lower School Olympic Morning with Countess Gytha Primary School
On Monday, in the glorious sunshine, we welcomed Years 3 and 4 from Countess Gytha Primary School to join our Hazlegrove Lower School for an Olympic themed morning.
The aim was to inspire the children and help them understand more about the Paris Olympics that take place this Summer. With just 67 days to go, we talked about the Olympics and how two ex-Hazlegrove athletes have won Gold Medals at previous Games. The stories of Peter Wilson (Clay Pigeon Shooting) and Maddie Hinch (Hockey) remind all of the exciting journey that could potentially lie ahead. After talking about some of the many different sports that feature in the Olympics and Paralympics everyone then had a go at five different Olympic Sports – Golf, Laser Pistol Shooting, Athletics, Hockey and Tennis. Opportunity, experience and competition were all evident along with a real buzz of excitement across the Hazlegrove site. We finished off with a hot pain au chocolate to keep the French theme alive. The Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together” certainly brought our communities together for a wonderful occasion.
