Reads Coffee Trip for Year 8

Year 8 had a fieldtrip to Reads Coffee in Sherborne on Tuesday. 

We looked at why coffee beans are sourced from countries like Brazil and Rwanda, and the very different methods of production in these countries, and how the raw beans are then transported.  Routes have changed a lot recently due to the problems in the Red Sea.  It was very interesting to gain an insight into the roasting process, the target market and all the way Brexit and Covid have affected their business.  It makes a great case study for the transport and industry unit of the geography syllabus.
