Space Odyssey Travels for Years 1 and 5
Year 1 and 5 were treated to a morning inside the Space Odyssey dome! Pupils were able to bring to life all they had been learning in the classroom and travel throughout the solar system.
Being in the dome enabled students to virtually visit each planet and see just how inhospitable some planets are and what we need for life to thrive whilst experiencing a perfectly clear night sky gave the children the opportunity to identify all the different constellations and watch in awe as they move across the sky with the Earths rotation.
But what really inspired the children, was visiting the International Space Station and seeing inside with real-life footage of astronauts at work. Year 1 and 5 evidenced excellent knowledge, recalling how Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were the first to make the incredible voyage to the moon on Apollo 11.
A morning filled with awe and wonder and some budding astronauts and astronomers in the making!
