Celebrating Hazlegrove Languages Day
There was much to celebrate on Hazlegrove Languages Day this year.
The children really enjoyed learning the words to ‘On écrit sur les murs’ in their French lessons, which we sung as a whole school in assembly and we took some of this powerful imagery and created graffiti art at break-time to convey messages of hope and love. The children embraced the Guess the Flag Mufti competition to raise money for the charity Choose Love and we had some thoughtful and ingenious entries to the Homemade Flag Competition, using recycled materials. Lessons were full of different activities embracing linguistics, Mexican cuisine, the Arabic alphabet, loto and bingo in different languages. There was a buzz of excitement in the dining hall, as we were treated to a feast of Spanish and Greek cuisine. However, the main highlight was hearing the array of languages spoken by the children and learning about different cultural traditions from Spain and China.
