A treasure hunting trip for our boarders over the weekend
The day started in the usual Sunday Hazlegrove way with a traditional full English breakfast. After packing bags with waterproofs and water bottles, we loaded up the coach and headed off to Crewkerne. After a short journey along the A303, we arrived at our ‘Treasure Hunt’ destination.
There was great excitement and anticipation building amongst the groups as Mr Shaw gave the final instructions. Each group had 20 items to locate across the town of Crewkerne with only a map to assist. At 11am, the start whistle sounded, and the teams were off! Mr Shaw’s team made a fast start with Mr Forbes’ team hot on their tail.
After taking an initial wrong turn, Mrs Kingsford’s team soon got underway closely followed by the remaining four teams. Great teamwork, navigation and observational skills were needed by everybody to spot the different items around the town…. as well as a little help from some kind locals for some of the groups! After an hour and a half of frantic hunting, the teams reconvened back at base camp and the results were tallied up. Mr Shaw and Mr Forbes’s teams were crowned victorious and awarded the winning prize of a delicious chocolate cake.
Both teams found an impressive 17 out of 20 items. After a picnic lunch and a chance to play in the park, we headed back to school for a relaxing film, chapel and roast supper. What a great day! A huge thank you to Mr Shaw and all the staff who made the day possible.
