Homegrown Hazlegrove Apple Juice

Our Eco Assembly at the beginning of the term kicked off a wonderful initiative to get more Eco in all that we do. This includes looking for more ways to grow produce on the estate and begin to find ways to reduce our food costs and become more sustainable.

We have plenty of apple trees growing within our grounds and we recently harvested sacks full of ripe and ready apples with the wonderful help of some of our pupils. Mrs Hunter then took our Hazlegrove apples off to the local farm cooperative to be pressed, pasteurised and bottled up as our very own apple juice, which will hopefully make its debut for purchasing at our Christmas fair! 

The income we generate from the Hazlegrove Apple Juice will be reinvested into other food-related projects in the School such as building more vegetable patches. We want to become more proactive in using the produce we have that can be used either for our community or to generate income.

We can't wait to sample our homegrown produce!
