Year 5 have been demonstrating their Green Screen skills
The world of technology is fast advancing and this week 5T have taken on the role of film producers, Vloggers of the future and budding poet laureates.
With an enormous vibrant green sheet painstakingly pinned into place in the classroom, they extended their ideas of what they thought they could achieve and taught themselves not only how to create a realistic teleprompt on Pages, but also how to utilise the Green Screen settings on iMovie. Once they had recorded their beautifully written poems about drought – thinking carefully about where to position themselves on the green screen, they extended their knowledge yet further, by exploring how to animate individual lines of poetry so that they appeared and disappeared on the screen in time with their voices. They made and screen-recorded a PowerPoint presentation with a ‘drought themed’ backdrop and imported it to iMovie as an overlay. With a little tweaking and cropping, they were able to marvel as they appeared in the setting they had chosen. The best part of this series of lessons was watching the children learning new skills and constantly challenging themselves by asking ‘How can we…?’, ‘Would it be possible to…?’, ‘What if we…’. The answer was ‘Let’s find out!’
