The Charity Sleep Out With 8S
May 26th 2023
Thursday evening saw the start of the 8S Charity Sleep Out in support of homelessness and the local charity, “Street Pastors”.
We kicked off the evening with soup and bread, followed by a talk by Mrs Bartlett, who has worked as a volunteer for the charity. Mr Edwards then shared sobering facts and information about the state of homelessness in the UK. The art room was next on the list, where the children created collages around the theme of homelessness and the plight of the homeless. Fellowship around the fire followed before the children unfolded boxes to create their beds for the night. We were blessed with a glorious clear sky sans wind. The children were nothing short of brilliant - engaging, sensitive and hugely empathetic.. They fully embraced this experience and we hope, that a seed has been planted for future charitable endeavours. The Year 8 Scholarship class fully embraced this annual worthwhile challenge! A special thanks to Mrs Bartlett and Mr Edwards for their meaningful contributions and to Mrs Cobb for roughing it out with us on the cardboard boxes. Until next year… Regan Schreiber
