Preparing our Children for the Future

Communication and trust – cornerstones of healthy relationships. Information is key too, if we are to successfully navigate the ever-changing landscape that is facing our families.

At Hazlegrove, we are determined to involve our parents in the preparing of our children. We regularly inform our parents of PSHE topics and this year, we have hosted three Parent Forums, broadly focusing on Online Safety, Mental Health and Sex Education. The format of the forums is essentially a Q & A, with a panel made up of teachers (Prep and Senior), a GP, and two Sixth formers, who are past pupils.

We are proactively tackling issues that are facing our children today. We want to be seen to be relevant and confident in our ability to stand true to our school values. Parental involvement is paramount – we need to be sharing ideas and good practice.

Our last Parent forum of the year, Promoting Positive Relationships and Sex Education proved to be very fruitful and informative. We had around 50 parents, who openly and candidly shared their concerns and thoughts on these topics. Dialogue is indeed healthy and at Hazlegrove, we encourage respectful dialogue in the hope that we can all make more informed and thoughtful decisions for our children.
