A Great 'Festival Of Curiosity' Week for the Art Department
Throughout the festival week in Art, pupils have been challenged to explore exciting and unfamiliar territory in relation to creative materials, techniques and processes.
Years 3 and 4 have studied the fantastical glass sculptures of the contemporary artist Dale Chihuly and found inspiration to create their own colourful 3D piece out of mod roc and paper mâché. Pupils enjoyed working with these tactile mediums and we look forward to seeing the finished outcomes.
Years 5 and 6 have explored camera-less photography and were fascinated by the process of making photograms using an array of natural and man-made objects. An excellent range of images was produced.
Years 7 and 8 have also explored analogue photographic techniques by making their own pinhole camera. Pupils were amazed that they were able to capture ghostly black-and-white images with very low-tech equipment, and particularly enjoyed the magical moment of seeing their image steadily emerge in the darkroom. We look forward to displaying a range of work and well done to all the pupils involved!
