Meet our Musicians! Profile of Mrs Moore

Many of you will know Mrs Moore from seeing her accompany the children in their wonderful productions, but this is just the tip of the iceberg!

 In addition to teaching the piano to many of our Hazlegrove children, Mrs Moore runs our music theory sessions, she teaches chimes and recorder groups in the Pre-Prep and in the Prep, she is a Music Tech wizard, arranging music for ensembles and she supports Mrs Sclater in our many choirs throughout the school.

In Mrs Moore’s spare time away from teaching at Hazlegrove, she is a ‘Musical Director’ for amateur theatre groups.  She uses her professional name, Lynne Merrifield, and can be seen conducting orchestras or ‘playing in the pit’ in many theatres, sometimes alongside peripatetic colleagues who often play in her orchestras and bands.

Since May she has been rehearsing twice a week with Taunton Operatic Society on their production of ‘Gypsy’.  This is being performed in the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton in the second week of the half term. 

As soon as ‘Gypsy’ is finished, Mrs Moore will begin rehearsing ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ with Glastonbury & Street Musical Comedy Society.  This will be performed in April 2023 at the ‘Meyer Theatre’ at Millfield School.
