Boarders' Weekend Report
Sunday, 3rd October 2022
Light rainfall could be seen and heard, as we woke on Sunday morning; the grass looking greener and greener with each passing week...who can still remember the boiling hot summer and the dusty, brown grass!?
After a lazy (and later) start to the morning, we headed down to the dining hall to enjoy the much-talked about and much-anticipated HZG Full English breakfast...and when I say full, I mean everything! One of the boys, this morning, at our table, said that we should have this every morning – I agree!
After breakfast, we loaded the minibuses with children and packed lunches and headed east, to Salisbury. What’s in Salisbury other than the stunning Cathedral I hear you ask?... “Jump in”, the incredible inflatable trampoline centre, of course.
The children finished their session with their heads radiating heat, like an old VW Beetle hood, after travelling through a desert. Steam followed us out as we piled into the minibuses again. This time, looking for a picnic spot. We looked to the skies and saw a parachute...it was a sign. We followed the parachute and found an airfield, with scores of empty picnic benches; and whilst we munched our picnics, we watched sky-divers land and planes take off. (And this was not planned at all!)
The A303 was kind to us today and we headed back to HZG in good time. Afternoon activities preceded a thought-provoking Chapel by Rev Bev – and what we got from that, was that we are all special (and that Mrs Benbow is very good at guessing the price of groceries!)
A delicious roast dinner followed letter writing. And when I sorted the letters for posting, I found one addressed to King Charles – how lovely!
We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day, and the children were fantastic company.
