Our 'Silver Readers' Host A Tea Party For Their Silver Listeners
A team of dedicated readers got to meet their wonderful listeners at our termly tea this week.
Miss Aggett said, 'Through the national 'Silver Stories' initiative, those in our Silver Stories club read a story over the phone each week to an older listener who perhaps doesn't get out and about as much as they'd like to anymore. Through the regular calls, we build friendships as well as reading confidence and it was a total delight to welcome our listeners to School 'in person' for tea and cake with us as a thank you for listening!'
Cherry Catley-Day from the CandlelightCare Home added, ' We all enjoyed ourselves so much, the pupils were a joy to talk with, and when Georgia read her poem, wow! She has inspired Jane to return back to writing poetry, which she hasn’t done for a while, and that really is quite something. Please would you pass on our thanks to everyone involved; the Silver Listeners scheme is truly inspirational and really does have an impact on people’s lives'.
