4M Learn About Mummification

In the Summer term 4M studied the Ancient Egyptians, part of that was looking at mummification.

To truly understand how it worked, 4M thought they would try it themselves! They used two tomatoes; one went through the steps of mummification, scooping out the insides, cleaning it, filling and covering it with salt, the other one was left for 7 weeks! This week 4M opened them up and we soon discovered that mummification, really does work! The mummified version was dry, a bit wrinkled and did not smell. Unlike the other, which has started to grow mould, become very juicy and smelled truly horrendous. The Ancient Egyptians really did know what they were doing!
