The Boarders Enjoyed A Trip To Hollywood Bowls
On a drizzly Sunday morning, we started the morning with a full English breakfast made by our wonderful kitchen staff.
With the weather not being on our side to go to the beach, we jumped into the Hazlegrove minibuses and headed to Hollywood Bowl for bowling and to use their arcade instead.
The girls and boys were put in teams and cheers and celebrations could be heard across the bowling lanes as ten pins were mown down! During each turn, the children could be seen springing from one colourful machine to another, waiting for as many little blue tickets to come streaming out as possible. Then the sound of running feet, eagerly running to the counter to see what they could win!
With pockets now empty of change and perhaps a bit fuller of sweets, the children returned to the buses for lunch. After lunch, the children enjoyed a range of different activities. Some children chose to swim, whilst others put on their dancing shoes. There was a competitive game of Danish Long Ball in the sports hall with girls vs boys ending in a one-on-one battle between Oli and Valentina which edged the boys to victory. Board games were on offer in the common room and some braved the wet weather on their bikes and scooters.
Having letter writing at the end of the day allowed the children to reflect on their action-packed day but also allowed for a little downtime, in preparation for chapel.
Mr Farquhar took Chapel this week. He taught the children about humility and asked them to think about success and how we talk about things we are good at.
Another Sunday meant a delicious roast dinner with all the trimmings. As you can imagine with such a busy day, it went down very quickly! Back in the boarding houses, the children snuggled up together to watch a film. What a perfect way to finish a wet and stormy Sunday.
