Year 5 Enjoyed Their Trip To Sea City Museum
On Monday, the Year 5 departed early to visit the Sea City Museum in Southampton where in particular we focused on their Titanic exhibition which ties in beautifully with our learning in History and English this term.
The children enjoyed looking around the interactive displays on the Titanic where they had the chance to steer the Titanic out of port, stoke the boilers with coal and send messages in morse code using a telegraph key! We also watched videos showing survivors accounts of their experiences and listened to a recreation of the enquiry into the disaster which was investigating why the Titanic sank. Add in a wonderful workshop from the lovely museum staff and it is clear that our day was packed full of wonderful learning opportunities! Our children did Hazlegrove proud, showing fantastic manners and great interest and curiosity!
