Hazlegrove Athletes Compete in Somerset County Cross County Championship

On Saturday, a number of our older Hazlegrove athletes competed in the Somerset County Cross County Championships at Barcroft Hall. 

They had qualified for this event at the end of last term.  It was a new venue for 2022 and the course proved to be challenging – muddy, hilly and a true test of fitness and determination. Our HZG athletes really rose to the occasion, and all ran extremely well. Highlights of the day were a wonderful and convincing  win for Daisy A in the Junior Girls age group ; she ran an amazing race to become County Champion and the Minor Boys (Year 7) race where Arthur F finished a superb second and Will M ran with such grit and determination to finish seventh – all three of these athletes have now been selected to represent Somerset on Saturday 5^th February at the South West Championships taking place in Wiltshire.   They are also joined by four further ex Hazlegrove athletes in the county team.
