Boarders Enjoyed Their Burns Night Supper
Hazlegrove’s Burns’ Night is best summed up by quoting the 1975, Four Seasons hit, “Oh what a night!”
We were treated to a fantastic Robert Burns’ Night supper this evening. Our very own Scotsman, Hector, ably supported by the legendary Mr Cranfield piped us in to the dining hall. Nothing like bagpipes to set the scene! We were then treated to a traditional Scottish grace (read by Mrs Cranfield), who then also read extracts from the well-known and much-celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns. Mrs Cranfield was kind enough to translate the poem for us too…which was needed!
Whilst doing this, the youngest child from each table, brandishing knives the size of the one that Crocodile Dundee wielded, stabbed their haggis! Our chef, Louise, paraded the over-sized haggis up and down the dining room, to more piping, accompanied by clapping and cheers from the boarders.
A hearty thanks to Mr and Mrs Cranfield and Hector, for making the evening so authentic and enjoyable and for bringing to life, the famous and much-loved Scottish poet, Robert Burns – he would have been proud of our celebration.
