There's so much to look forward to with Music this term!
Our Music Department is thriving, with Year 5 exploring the magical world of firebirds, Valkyries and witches, and Years 3, 4 and 6 working on their respective productions. In Year 7, pupils have embarked upon a brand-new topic, inspired by BBC Radio 4’s new podcast, Add to Playlist, taking them from Copland’s Hoe Down to Lil Nas’s Old Town Road. In addition, our legendary Year 7 Band took to the stage for their first gig at our recent Fireworks Night, performing rock classics by White Stripes, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Journey. Do look out for this band, and many other Hazlegrove ensembles, in this term’s inaugural Virtual Christmas Concert.
We are particularly looking forward to hearing Mrs Sclater’s Hazlegrove Voices, as well as our Girls’ Vocal Group, under the new instruction of Mrs Dickenson. With such a wealth of music-making, it is wonderful to see the Music Department looking as well as sounding vibrant, with a generous donation of new keyboard tables and chairs from The Friends. In addition, our new noticeboard now displays a Wacky Races track, with a vehicle assigned to each house. House points can be gained for every music practice completed, both by boarders and day children. Everyone is keeping an eagle eye on the running total, and we are all looking forward to seeing which house will win at the end of the year. Points mean prizes!
