River Dart - September 2021
What an amazing week and what an incredible year group this Year 7 are. We headed off full of excitement on Monday 13th September to the River Dart Centre on Dartmoor. Team building, resilience, fun and challenge were the themes of the week all tied very closely in with our Hazlegrove key values of Kindness, Integrity, Courage, Generosity and Grace.
Mr Shaw sums up the week below:
The Year 7’s had a fantastic week down on the River Dart. With the sun shining down on us we got stuck into a superb programme of physical challenges designed to be loads of fun, but also to stretch us and take us all a little bit out of our comfort zones. The activities included a 150m zip line, one of the best (and toughest) high ropes obstacle courses in the country, rock climbing upon Leigh Tor on Dartmoor, hiking, fishing, caving, canoeing, orienteering, kayaking, raft building and a crazy crate stack competition – and let’s not forget a thrilling night walk through to forest and up to Henbury Fort. Any energy we had left in the evenings we quickly expended playing on the awesome River Dart adventure playground, orienteering in the wonderful grounds or singing silly songs around the campfire. The food was incredible, and we feasted like kings at every meal.
All-in-all a wonderful five days that was over far too soon.
