Year 6 Production - Seussical

The musical Seussical Jr began rehearsals in the Autumn term ready for their performance dates this spring.

Sadly, we were all in lockdown and this could not happen. However, the whole year group continued to rehearse in their drama lessons on TEAMS. They sang along at home to the songs, and we all danced together in our designated learning/teaching spaces online. After re-scheduling the performance to week 10 in the school calendar, in the hope that the government would be able to lift guideline restrictions on the 21 June, we continued to rehearse with gusto. Sadly, the roadmap out of lockdown did not go to plan and for reasons outside our control we were unable to perform a full year group musical to an audience.

However, we were thrilled to be able to pull together a montage of the show for the pupils and their families to enjoy.

Mrs Sclater spent a whole day recording each class and Mrs Mahony appeared with rails of brightly coloured costumes, feathers and fluffy ears. Miss Arnold and I painted 62 character faces and filming began.

The children had so much fun wearing costumes and finally performing a show that they had worked so hard preparing. It has been a challenging time for this year group; their tenacity and perseverance are an absolute credit to them all.

The montage which went out t which went out to Year 6 parents last week made it possible for the pupils to immerse themselves in the process of putting on their musical and has resulted in a wonderful keep sake to show family and friends for years to come.
