A Christmas Feast to Remember for our Boarders
What a year and what a term!
Once again the Hazlegrove boarding community rose to the challenges of 2020 with a smile on their faces and Christmas cheer aplenty. Although we had to make a few small changes to the usual boarders' feast arrangements this did not dampen the spirits and in fact it was much the reverse; we had such a good time we over ran by an hour.
One of my personal highlights is always seeing the children put on their festive finery as they dress to impress for our annual feast. We were piped in by the magnificent duo of Mr Cranfield and Hector S who did Lankester House proud as they set the tone beautifully for the start of the feast. The catering team once again outdid themselves and Mrs White and team had done a wonderful job making the dinning hall a gorgeous place to celebrate Christmas. After stuffing ourselves with all three courses (and Malteser reindeer) we were treated to a wonderful insight into pioneering aviation by Mr Cranfield. With feast complete we joyfully left to enjoy a brilliant magic show and a home cinema and dance experience with our inflatable cinema. A truly wonderful evening and one that showed no matter what the adversity, the Hazlegrove children will always rise to the occasion.
A packed Sunday awaited the children but not before a full English to set us up for the day. A hotly contested laser tag, gingerbread house building, Christmas jumper dance, campfire with bread making and much more filled the action packed morning. If a feast and full English were not enough we then sat down for a classic beef roast with all the trimmings. This preceded a much needed rest and quiet time to re-build energy for the afternoon. Girl’s football, Christmas coding, a dog walk and a truly epic Capture the Flag rounded off the afternoon’s activities. We topped up the Christmas spirit with some hot chocolate before a festive film.
Finally, and always a highlight, we enjoyed our Christingle service which was the perfect way to round off a brilliant weekend. With a very special festive weekend under our belt the boarding community is now ready for the final push towards the end of a brilliant term here at Hazlegrove. A huge well done to the whole boarding community who all work together to make Hazlegrove an amazing place to live, work, play and learn.
Merry Christmas!
