Bonfire Night for our Excited Boarders

The new normal…we have tried, where possible, to do all the fun and exciting things that we love to do year-on-year.

Unfortunately, COVID has thrown a number of curve balls at us and I think, for the most part, we have manged to continue as normal, the new normal. This year, we were faced with the task of having a “SAFE” Bonfire night for the boarders. I am pleased to report that not only did we achieve this but we managed to have a fun evening, complete with a massive bonfire.

The children enjoyed burgers and fries under the stars, whilst counting down Mr Stoker and his crew, to set the bonfire and the Guys – which were built in the afternoon in tutor classes, alight. The flames were warmly received – excuse the pun. The night was chilly and we all enjoyed the warmth given off by the fire. Hot chocolate warmed us all too, from the inside and the icing on the cake, was a generously-sized home-made donut.

The children (and the staff) had a lovely evening, enjoying the fire, the delicious food and fellowship. No fireworks this year…but I hope that this means that we will have an even bigger celebration next year…that is certainly the thinking of the children…twice as many fireworks now, surely?!
