Prep Sports

We have had a brilliant term for sport so far. As we go into our final Exeat before Easter, here is a round up of Hazlegrove's brilliant achievements.

IAPS National Hockey Finals
We wish our 1st VII Hockey Team good luck for today as they play in the National IAPS Hockey Finals at Cheltenham College and also to our U11 Boys who play in their IAPS National Finals on Wednesday 18 March at Rugby School. We are extremely proud of their achievements – to reach the National Finals in this prestigious competition is a superb achievement in itself.

U12 and U10 KSB Hockey Tournaments
Last Wednesday both our U12 and U10 Hockey Teams travelled to King’s Bruton to play in their annual Hockey Tournaments – both teams won their respective age groups after having played some superb hockey throughout the afternoon.

IAPS National Judo
We wish our five senior boys HZG boys good luck for this coming Saturday as they travel to High Wycombe to compete in the IAPS National Finals. We hope that they enjoy the experience.

Clayesmore Relays
Congratulations to all of the 60 Hazlegrove athletes that competed in this year’s Clayesmore Relays. It was a super afternoon and it is so special to see so many children (over 800 in total) all running in this fabulous annual event.  We were thrilled to hear that we had received the following team awards:
Year 6 Girls         3rd
Year 7 Boys         3rd
Year 8 Girls         3rd
Year 6 Boys         1st (pictured)
We have also recently heard that Hazlegrove athletes won three Fastest Lap trophies – congratulations to:
Mary S – Year 5 Girls
Daisy A – Year 6 Girls
Zinzan S – Year 7 Boys

Girls Cricket
After some very exciting indoor cricket matches in the Lady Taverners Indoor competition, we are delighted that our Girl’s Cricket Team have qualified for the Somerset County Finals.  We wish them luck for Wednesday 11 March when they play at the Somerset County Ground.

Swimming
It has been a busy couple of weeks in the pool with HZG hosting four galas in the past two weeks – we have welcomed Port Regis, Leweston and Sherborne for school fixtures and also hosted a Regional IAPS Swimming Qualifier.  We await to hear if any of our swimmers have been successful in gaining a place at the National IAPS Finals that take place at the Olympic Park in London on Saturday 6 June.

U10 King’s Bruton Netball Tournament
Well done to all of our Year 5 Girls who all played in the recent KSB U10a and U10b Netball tournaments. Our U10a team finished in a very creditable and close 3rd place and we were very proud of our Sky Blue team that won the U10b team tournament – congratulations.

Cross Country
G
ood luck to both Skye F and Charlie G who are representing Somerset at the English Schools Cross Country Finals in Liverpool on Saturday 14 March.
