Year 4 Visit Carymoor Environmental Centre
Year 4 had a great day out at Carymoor Environmental Centre.
Wellies were the order of the day as we toured the site, actually walking on top of buried landfill and seeing the site in action. We learnt so much about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling our rubbish and were very pleased that the very low weight of waste from our packed lunch put us in the top ten of visiting schools. We were quite shocked by how many plastic bags had blown from the landfill site, but making kites from plastic bags and willow in the afternoon inspired the children to reuse a plastic bag.
The staff at Carymoor were so impressed with the knowledge and level of questioning by the children. We hope the children will spread the important messages they learnt during the day; they were certainly buzzing on their return!
