A Weekend Trip to Wookey Hole for the Boarders
This Sunday the boarding community were revitalised by a full English breakfast before jumping on the buses bound for the limestone caves of Wookey Hole.
59 children and nine adults arrived excited to go exploring underground and to perhaps have an encounter with the wicked witch. Sadly no witches were to be found but, our group were astonished by the limestone formations that the River Axe had caved out over millions of years. We emerged from the depths a little startled to see daylight again and surprised to be surrounded by a herd of animatronic dinosaurs in the Jurassic park zone. The children then watched a paper making display and learnt that the onsite paper mill was established in 1610 and continued to make paper until 2008. We were entertained by the 4D cinema, local circus and finally the Victorian arcade machines. The highlight being the fortune telling machine that suggested Mr Shaw should get a perm as this is apparently the latest fashion.
In all a very rewarding and educational trip. A huge thank you goes out to Mr Shaw for organising such a fun time for the children.
