French Haikus for Year 6
In a recent French lesson, Year 6 pupils embarked on a unique linguistic journey by creating their own French haikus.
Adapting this format to the French language presented an intriguing challenge for the pupils, as they had to consider not only the syllable count but also the nuances of French grammar and vocabulary.
Despite the complexity of the task, the pupils executed it beautifully. They demonstrated a brilliant understanding of the French language, carefully selecting words to convey their thoughts within the constraints of the haiku format. The classroom buzzed with creativity as pupils brainstormed, drafted, and refined their poems in pairs. This lesson was not just about practising French; it was about using language as a tool for creative expression. This experience was a wonderful example of how language learning can be both educational and fun!
