Success of the Millionaires’ Club at Hazlegrove
Hazlegrove Prep School is proud to announce the success of its Millionaires’ Club, a reading challenge that encourages pupils to read and quiz on books and read at least one million words.
So far, 35 pupils have achieved this remarkable feat this term, with three keen readers becoming double millionaires!
The challenge is open to all pupils from Year 3 to Year 8, and they can choose books from a wide range of genres and levels. The pupils use an online platform called Accelerated Reader to take quizzes on the books they have read and earn points based on their comprehension. The points are then converted into words to measure their progress towards the million-word goal.
The challenge is not only a fun way to motivate pupils to read more, but also a great way to improve their vocabulary, fluency, and critical thinking skills. The pupils who participate in the challenge also develop a love of reading and a sense of achievement.
The Millionaires’ Club will culminate in a special lunch on Monday 11th December, where the pupils who have reached the million-word mark will be celebrated and rewarded. The final entries for the challenge are due by the close of play on Friday 8th December, so there is still time for more pupils to gain their place! There are currently 20 pupils who are over the 600k mark and are very close to becoming millionaires.
Please keep encouraging your children to keep reading and quizzing!
