Year 7 are getting close to nature in Art
This term, Year 7children are focusing on developing work inspired by the natural world.
They have started off by studying the amazing drawings and sculptures of Peter Randall-Page whose own work is rooted in the patterns, textures and geometry existent in nature.
Pupils have worked in natural materials such as compressed and willow charcoal, and created a range of observational studies of objects such as leaves, dried lotus heads, shells and star anise. This has allowed them to build vital skills in recording shape, form, texture and tone.
Pupils have also used their iPads to carefully photograph and edit images to amplify contrast and texture. As the project progresses the children can look forward to working in 3D to make their own nature-inspired creation!
