Our Boarders Enjoy A Fantastic In-Weekend
The Spring Term kicked off for the boarders with the Hazlegrove team-building challenge.
After a hearty Full English breakfast, Mr Shaw gave a thought-provoking chapel involving some challenges for the boarders who had to volunteer for unknown tasks including nerf shooting, drawing and long multiplication! The message to take away was about how we all have different strengths and we are even better prepared when we work together. This set the tone nicely for a full array of team-building tasks.
From Miss Ellis’ Pilates challenge to target practice in the squash court with Mr Brown to Articulate with Mr Schreiber, there was quite literally something for everyone. It was wonderful to see the children running around every inch of the site to find their next activity and collect their scores. It was the perfect way for new starters and familiar faces to break the ice and get back into the swing of weekend life at Hazlegrove.
We were all treated to a delicious Sunday roast (which was much missed over the holidays!) before some rest and reading in the theatre. The girls were especially well prepared for this moment with some bringing blankets and pillows to get cosy. Then onto the afternoon… Mr Froggatt and Mr Head ran an epic Capture the Flag. George DM’s knee-slide to grab the yellow flag will go down in the history books. The woods were full of children sneaking from all angles to try and surprise the other team. Sholto and Oli G’s pincer movement from both sides of the woods was particularly effective for the blue team! Meanwhile, the swimming pool was open and full of happy children. There were also quieter activities on offer including the farmyard where Moose the resident rabbit was happy to see his visitors.
After a busy day of activities, the boarders enjoyed popcorn and hot chocolate before settling in for a film. A perfect start to the Spring Term for the boarding family here at Hazlegrove.
