A Wash Out Weekend Doesn't Stop Hazlegrove Boarders

Prep Boarding

The plan was to go to Weymouth for the day. The forecast was not looking good but on Saturday night Mr Froggatt rallied the troops with a battle cry, challenging the boarding community to face the elements – we were to build sea defences and stand firm in the face of the wet and wild weather!

By Sunday morning, though, the forecast had got worse with higher winds and heavy downpours expected. So... we went for plan B! Hazlegrove boarders are made of stern stuff though and still got very wet (and very muddy – the matrons were not impressed!) at Ham Hill for the morning where they played giant games of manhunt, 40-40 and also plenty of sliding down grassy banks! The puddles were very attractive to some too – I understand splashing in them… but swimming in them?? -  I am not sure!! Spare clothes and hot soup at the minibuses quickly warmed the children up and we returned to Hazlegrove to have our picnic lunch (indoors!).

Mr Head kindly set up the inflatable cinema for a film followed by Just Dance, the pool was open for a free swim too, whilst some enjoyed relaxing and playing board games in the common room. The Library was also open for those who wanted to do some work. McFlurries at 4pm were well-received (I am not sure McDonalds had ever had an order for 62 McFlurries before!!) and the afternoon finished with letter writing before we all enjoyed a delicious roast – beef this week, with all the trimmings. Delicious!
